Well Well good to see the Gown mentioned in the Sunday Times.
Or a case of shameless self promotion from Misses Wylie and Small???

Self promotion?

We, as co-editors, have been working tirelessly to save The Gown from extinction, and have been doing everything in our power to raise awareness amongst the relevant media sources and journalists of our current financial plight.

"Self promotion" is the very least of our bother.

Self-promotion?
I think this is a joke. It's all well and good that those election candidates could bandy about figures regarding budgets and more funding at yesterday's debate like money was no issue.
The Gown gets nothing and we still do a more effective job than any of those sabbatical officers...Stand up James Murphy.

'Anonymous', read our three issues of the year. We do NOT "slag" others off. We may well highlight the mistakes made by others when it is in the interest of the student body, but we do not "slag" others off.

An anonymous comment with unnecessary swearing, not proof-read and woeful grammar- Murphy's Law states that it is most likely James Murphy!

The gown need to wise up- no wonder you dont get any funding! Why would people want to support the constant abuse that you publish and your sensored comments! Hopefully the new sabs will bring out a Union Newspaper which is more representative and a little more tasteful!

The Gown team are having trouble comprehending exactly what is meant by "constant abuse".

This alleged "constant abuse" certainly does not appear in our hard copies. If, indeed, you are referring to comments left on the blog, then we are not apologetic for any "abuse" that is published. We are merely giving students a forum to express their views.

No censorship takes place regarding The Gown blog. We have had to delete comments recently at the request of an individual who was particularly offended at some content.

There is no journalism course at QUB, so therefore The Gown provides an essential outlet for aspiring journalists. The entire Gown team would agree that so far their work on The Gown has proved to be invaluable to them in improving skills in a number of journalistic and business areas. Therefore any funding that The Gown would receive would be extremely worthwhile and would support a great cause.

In my view this forum is a valuable opportunity for students and others to give their views. Both the bloggers and the gown team should be allowed to argue their case aggressively, within reasonable bounds
'Reasonable' being a vague term much favoured in British Law, seems an appropriate qualification here

Incidentally, I spotted a comment on this site where a person referred to inbred GAA thugs
Personally I take no offence at this example, though I wonder if this strays outside of the reasonable
